CDC Recognizes Masquerade Spreads COVID

February 11, 2021

OK, the CDC did not exactly said this. Instead, unwilling to recognize it helped to foster the pandemic through its erroneous recommendations, the CDC used weasel talk. CDC now recommends to wear two masks, superposed, tightly fitting… and even then the CDC recognizes that plenty enough viruses to kill you, will go through… or then CDC suggests to forsake breathing altogether, and wear “nylon over the mask“. So, put a plastic bag over your head, close it tightly and, says the CDC, you will not get COVID. I am not making this up, read the lower right recommendation from the CDC drawing below:

If one analyzes critically this CDC drawing, one realizes that the CDC is admitting failure for the masquerade, even if it is not just a double, but even a quadruple masquerade. Putting a plastic bag around the head and tightening may work, though, the CDC admits…

This is an official CDC admission that, even when they threaten to kill you through impeaching breathing, masks do not work. “In lab tests with dummies, exposure to infectious aeorosols decreased by about 95% when the BOTH wore TIGHTLY fitted masks“.

Yes, right, what about the remaining 5%? The coronavirus is a virus, that means it grows in enormous bursts, well above anything exponential. So getting 5% of a virus is like getting 100% of a virus.

During the initial stage, an inoculum of virus causes infection. In the eclipse phase, viruses bind and penetrate the cells with no virions detected in the medium (this is a problem for detection, as there is nothing to detect, and why PCR tests do not work like metal detectors; a thoroughly infected individual ready to spew enormous quantities of virus within an hour may have a negative PCR test, because billions of viruses are still inside the cells). A chief difference appears in the viral growth curve compared to a bacterial growth curve occurs when virions are released from the lysed (exploding!) host cells, all at the same time. Such an occurrence is called a burst, and the number of virions per bacterium released is described as the burst size. In a one-step multiplication curve for bacteriophage, the host cells lyse, releasing many viral particles to the medium, which leads to a very steep rise in number of virions per unit volume.

Now in bacteria, the doubling time can be as little as 12 minutes (or less!) As viruses are much smaller, the reproduction of viruses per unit of time is much greater (there is a general law, giving a reproduction time inversely dependent upon infectious agent mass). Playing conservative, let’s say we are dealing with twenty minutes doubling time. In less than 90 minutes, a population of an infectious bacteria could have been multiplied twenty times. Let’s assume the same for the coronavirus (actually a wild underestimate in the burst phase!) In other words the 5% the quadruple mask system of the CDC enables to pass through would have been transformed into more than 100% within less than two hours. Because a viral burst is actually worse than that, basically 5% is as bad as 100%. It is as if swallowing half a gram of Plutonium instead of ten grams: it will kill you just the same.

As I have explained in detail several months ago, masks transform ballistic water droplets falling on the ground into indefinitely suspended virus-fomites aerosol combinations (fomites are dust particles so small only HEPA filters can stop them, using quantum forces).

This is why European countries have outlawed most masks in January 2021. Surgical masks, worn as surgeons wear them reduce the probability of transmission, true, but this is an operating room situation, not a real life situation (people touch masks, they touch them with hands which have not been washed for three minutes, people speak too much, masks slip, etc.) Surgeons are trained to do this in a professional environment.

If one wants to avoid being infected by COVID, one has to avoid aerosols carrying COVID. HEPA air filtration, ventilation and UV D will do that. Masks will not. This is science.

And now let me head out to Stanford University, to get my vaccine jab!

Note: it was known before 2019 that coronavirus were aerosols:

For both SARS and MERS, LRT samples offer the best diagnostic yield, often in the absence of any detectable virus in upper respiratory tract (URT) samples [50,51,52]. Furthermore, infected, symptomatic patients tend to develop severe LRT infections rather than URT disease. Both of these aspects indicate that this is an airborne agent that has to penetrate directly into the LRT to preferentially replicate there before causing disease.

For MERS-CoV specifically, a recent study demonstrated the absence of expression of dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP4), the identified receptor used by the virus, in the cells of the human URT. The search for an alternate receptor was negative [53]. Thus, the human URT would seem little or non-permissive for MERS-CoV replication, indicating that successful infection can only result from the penetration into the LRT via direct inhalation of appropriately sized ‘droplet nuclei’-like’ particles.

Mask wearing has been politicized: Biden and his wife wore masks in open air, without anybody around, presenting this as “science”. They won the election that way. Thanks to the support of plutocratic media, the notion was widely accepted, and Trump lack of mask exhibtionism was presented as “anti-science”… never mind that Trump spent dozens of billions financing biotech companies to develop vaccine (something no other “leader” did, with the partial exception of Boris Johnson… who I used to detest because of Brexit, but now Johnson has actually financed a French biotech startup, ordering 100 million doses of vaccine from the French company… whereas the French president a baker and inspector of finance… did not!)

No Truth But Truth And Power Is Its Prophet

February 11, 2021

The outrageous core of pseudo philosophy can be defined by the claim that there is no such a thing as objective truth. It is not just the most inhuman insult, but it denies what enabled our species’ existence… Wisdom! “Sapiens”! How could there be wisdom without truth? The entire evolution of the genus Homo stands on achieving some truths. Enough truths to enable us to conquer the planet, the biosphere, and land on the Moon. The adversaries of our ancestors were extinguished, because they did not discover the most valuable truths fast enough. For example the truth of the atlatl, whose leverage made it possible for a javelin or dart to go much further, projecting power. Or the truth that clothing made of furs permitted Homo Ergaster to survive the winter in the Caucasus mountains… Two million years ago, on its way to conquer all of Eurasia.

The dirtiest waters of the oceans of truths, are the deepest…

Pseudo Philosophers attacking truth thus attack the human genus, and human genius, the very idea of wisdom, itself. They are getting confused by the way one gets to truth: through debate, that is, socially. Always. Even the most precise science is always the result of social debates (among the scientifically minded). Science, let alone wisdom, is fundamentally cultural, thus social. It is a truism… Although of course it means that all and any inchoate system of thought will always come to the fore as a tribal phenomenon. That is not a show-stopper, because there is no other way. But it is a warning, a tribal warning… Even for Big Bang theory (not for classical optics, which is 100% true).

So why is Pseudo Philosophy so popular? Because it is a cheap drug the established order wants We The People to be addicted to. Pseudo-philosophy attacks the notion of objective truth . If there is no objective truth, one cannot criticize systemic social inequality. Objective truth is the enemy of plutocracy, destroying it makes plutocracy free. And who is financing the top thinkeries (to use Aristophane’s word)? Plutocracy! So Plutocracy loves Pseudo Philosophy, as it hates truth.

Foucault made some valuable contributions to thinking, sometimes. But pseudo-everything is generally more popular with plutocrats… who finance not just the “top” universities, but own the media, worldwide (or influence it in pseudo-public outfits). Thus the careers and salaries of thinkers will come only if they can engage in pseudo-wisdom of a type satisfying plutocracy.

And that works, because real wisdom rising is harsh, contentious, cruel and brain-shattering: it is not friendly to the herd! And the herd wants comfort, pursue happiness! Deconstructing, and then reconstructing one’s brain is no small task, and it can be demeaning. The herd prefers to listen to pseudo-philosophers, all the more as, when pseudo-wisdom sings the praises of the established order, it is telling the herd that it lives in the best of all possible worlds… And the herd wants to hear that to be satisfied with its own sense of comfort…

In truth, there is not truth but the truth, and power is its prophet!

P/S 1: That was a comment to the following pretty good essay, which told the truth about Foucault and other “postmodernists”:

Pseudophilosophy encourages confused, self-indulgent thinking

***

P/S 2:

I do not believe that there is no truth. One ought to define truth as what works (what else?) And of course there are lots of things which works, hence there are many truths. Yes, some quantum logicians have claimed quantum physics implies that there is “no truth”. It is a consequence of the many-world and multiverse interpretations of Quantum Physics. However those interpretations are not the only ones, there are other interpretations such as the De Broglie Pilot Wave, or objective collapse theories.

In any case, using the preceding definition of truth, if indeed somehow quantum logic implied that there is no truth, nothing would work. Maybe one should introduce virtual truth, namely operational neural networks… Which would work only as functioning brain circuitry (and not necessarily work as representations of the real world, namely what works out there). Those neural networks would incarnate Plato’s “forms”.Notice that a functioning neural network is a classical object. Whereas, an inchoate neural network is also surely partly an evolving quantum object. In general fundamental (quantum) processes are waves all over the place (that place is endowed with the structure of a Hilbert space), but in the end the process collapses down to points (the classical picture)… This is actually implies that virtual truths all over the place boil down to one 100% certain truth, in the end…

Aphorisms 9 February 2021

All things seem to pass, but for the passing of passage… Questions best answered by God, such as the universe in toto, should be left to her, especially as we have no proof of her existence… besides ourselves, of course…

On The Asocial Networks Deciding What Is Right:

Spying on people to make money is not ethical. So why should wealthy spies be in charge of the ethics of society? because they have more money and power? Would it not be natural then, that they use slaves? Aren’t we all, those with the stolen lives… slaves?

Corona Voodoo By COVIDIOTS:

All alone, miles from any road, a runner is seen. She wears a mask. One can see a cloud of steam puffing out of it every few seconds. Did she see viruses lurking in the woods? Where does she believe her potentially COVID laden breath go? Isn’t her mask encrusted with dried up COVID a terrible threat to society when she goes back among the throngs?

Minds so obscure, how can one talk to them? What can one hope them to understand anything a bit out of what they have been conditioned to know?

Debate Trumps Truth:

In the fog of war, we need the biggest guns… And the biggest gun is not truth, which is debatable, but debate, the only way to get to better truths.

For example I just seem to have found a serious logical mistake in the famous 1907 paper of Einstein on Relativity… Because, well, nobody debated it (Although I am a sort of Relativity specialist, I read it only in 2021!!!!!!!!!!!!)… Yet its conclusion has been taken for granted by generations of physicists… In an absolute sort of way.

We often contradict an opinion, otherwise fun, games and debate would die. It is not just because we do not like the tone. It is because of dialectic. We harvest ideas from the emotions debates bring.

“We often contradict an opinion for no other reason than that we do not like the tone in which it is expressed.” — Friedrich Nietzsche, Human, All Too Human… sounding very superficial for once. We contradict opinion to aggravate not just others, but ourselves. Same idea as drinking coffee, but with mightier stuff.

Typical mention of Nazi engineered massacres in the New York Times during World War Two (top; victims, below). Nothing to see, circulate. Although reliable sources concurred that millions of civilians, Poles and Jews had been assassinated, as early as January 1942. The New York Times duplicated this behavior of ignoring horrors, real, potential, or unavoidable, the Biden-Bush conspiracy which brought the invasion of Iraq could bring… of course the NYT made things up with the Bush administration and the famous Judith Miller, to justify the killing of millions of Iraqis, in an effort to impose, there again, the American way…

HISTORY IS MOSTLY THE HISTORY OF CONSPIRACIES:

History, correctly made, is mostly the making of theories about why and how precisely some conspiracies happened., and who, what, how and why the conspirators got going…

The blanket interdiction against theorizing about conspiracies arises from the fact the World is in the grip of Global Deep Plutocratic conspiracy. our sneaky masters do not want us to theorize about the ways they subjugate us. They are not different that way from Muslim Fundamentalists forbidding us to theorize about Islam. Presently they are distracting us with some more impeaching of Trump, trumping us in the illusion that they are fighting evil, thus hiding they are the evil-power (pluto-kratia).

For a small hint of how vast the conspiracy orchestrated by the elite is, consider that Medal of Freedom recipient Gates and Buffet were forces behind Uighur enslaving Xi whose collaborator hereditary plutocrat Roberts controls Comcast, thus NBC, MSNBC, etc… Also what really happened with fascism, and why the US which contributed massively to create it, was so late in declaring war to it (actually, it didn’t!) Don’t expect to learn any of this in plutocratic universities…

Between 1939 and 1945, The New York Times published more than 23,000 front-page stories. Of those, 11,500 were about World War II. Twenty-six were about the Holocaust.

We need to add to the media mix real neutral STATE media under STATE INSTITUTIONAL CONTROL (not just Congress/Parliament, but also SCOTUS, Dept Justice, etc.). That would COUNTERBALANCE. How to get there is a devil in the details. Enormous regulations and laws on the likes of Twitter and Facebook would help (those have started to appear). Direct financing through taxes. At the same time paying media to get it to say things, when one has a vested interest, say promoting “Brexit”, should be unlawful.

Navalny and Trump: too close a comparison for comfort. Is The USA going the way of Russia?

The prosecution of Navalny, for incitement is a shame and a proof of non-democracy of the existing Russian establishment , as Navalny is the greatest opponent of the established order in Russia. Navalny just got condemned to 3.5 years in prison. Who is the greatest opponent of the established order in the USA? Yes, Trump. Should Trump be harassed some more by the US establishment, as Navalny is by the Russian establishment? History will draw all too uncomfortable a parallel.

New York Times’ Vicious Disinformation: A long Tradition Of Systemic Moral Failure… Deliberately So:

And of course, during World War two, the New York Times refused to give the Holocaust of the Jews the publicity it deserved. Why? The usual explanation is that Americans hated Jews, so it was best not to talk about them, Jews. That is obvious disinformation.

The charitable explanation is that New York business and banking circles had been closely tied to Nazism (which they greatly created themselves). The reality is worse: the US elite knew, or guessed, or felt its manifest destiny; let Europe be destroyed so that the USA can rule the “American Century”…

Did Socrates Say We Know Nothing? No! He Said The Exact Opposite! Why Plutocracy Pushes Cognitive Nihilism

February 9, 2021

We live in the age of cognitive and collective nihilism. Nothing really new there; Friedrich Nietzsche was already fighting the same exact mass psychology of ignorance extolled as wisdom… in Germany. That’s why the musician Nietzsche broke away from his friend the musician Wagner. (a German hypernationalistic racist) Nietzsche said the herd constituted by most Germans had become ignorant nationalistic brutes and terrible things would result from this. So Friedrich went to live in France and Italy, celebrating both cultures, and calling himself a Pole. Einstein, three decades later would follow a similar path, with similar (very justified) complaints.

A preferred tactic of Internet bullies, is to claim that Socrates would have said that he knew nothing, and, thus that it is the epitome of wisdom for Internet critters to say that their opponents know nothing, because, well, we know nothing. In particular Internet critters claim that whatever a superior interlocutor said in a cognitive dimension they didn’t even know existed, is irrelevant, because there is no knowledge in knowledge.

Actually Socrates said the exact opposite of claiming that we knew nothing… And that we know plenty, and can know much more, and much better, is probably Socrates’ main message. The so-called Socratic method is a way to get to the truth, not just a s consequence, but as hypothesis. To claim the opposite is a piece of vicious disinformation. Actually, to tell the whole truth, the so-called Socrates method was probably invented as soon as language was. It is just the manner of improving ideas, hypotheses, observations and principles through a debate, by looking at all the consequences. When all the false stuff has been eliminated, the truth is left.

The lie that Socrates claimed to be a cognitive nihilist was planted by Roman plutocrats four centuries after Socrates’ death, in an effort to devalue knowledge, all of knowledge

The Socratic Methods consists in conducting a succession of ever more refined thought experiments. The method is probably as old as language itself.

So now we have this paradox of people who think they are wise because they do as Socrates did, according to them, scrupulously knowing nothing and replacing this by frantic tribal howling (presently with the word “Trump” within in the USA, although that will pass soon). And they repeat what their owners told them to say, presently from media owned by the world’s wealthiest persons…

Socrates is viewed as a pillar of philosophy, yet Socrates wrote directly or indirectly, nothing. This is remarkable. By indirectly writing nothing I mean that we do not know of a text that Socrates originated: we have to take Plato’s word for it (and there are reasons to doubt Plato’s good judgement, namely his love affair with the tyrant of Syracuse). Whereas, for example, we know that it is Pericles’ wife, Aspasia of Miletus, who made explicit the concept of “Open Society”… a very important concept explicitly mentioned in the funeral oration given by Pericles… (We know this, because Pericles himself did not believe in the Open Society that much; clearly his wife forced him to extoll the Open Society…)… The concept of open Society was later picked and expanded upon by French Nobel laureate philosopher Henri Bergson, then Popper. By contrast the “Socratic Method” is something that Plato shows in various dialogues, conducted in pursuit of… the truth. The truth envisioned as axiomatics and consequences.

Thus, we have no direct evidence of Socrates’ thinking. Aristophanes, Xenophon and of course Plato mention Socrates. Aristophanes makes fun of Socrates for instituting a “thinkery“… if it sounds akin to a winery, this is no accident: Plato himself presents Socrates as having been the most depraved of men before he became a lover to the best, war hero, and finally beyond it all.. So the Socratic Method arose in the sort of circumstances that were rather informal… And we are not too sure in what Socrates really believed (the reason is that he may have had different political beliefs than Plato who was already an obvious right wing authoritarian…)

The result has been that many thoughts are attributed to Socrates which he did not have. As he and Plato are viewed (somewhat idiotically) as the fathers of philosophy, “philosophy” is then viewed as something it was never meant to be… Namely, a negation of knowledge.

In particular many fake thinkers quote Socrates as saying that he only knew one thing, and that was that he knew nothing. Socrates did not say this, and actually in some places, as reported by Plato, Socrates says explicitly that he knows some things very well.

Indeed, one of Socrates’ thought system insisted that specialized mental activities should be left to specialists who know the body of knowledge. That was Socrates’ main beef against Athenian style Direct Democracy, according to Plato. For example, Socrates-Plato points out, generals should be professionals, just as shoemakers are professionals.

Pretending that the “father of philosophy” (as the snobs love to say) said that we knew nothing is to claim that wisdom is not grounded in knowledge, and we may as well be a barnacle, knowing nothing while clinging to stuff. The “we know nothing mantra” is nihilism at its best.

That silliness, that Socrates said he knew nothing, was a lie invented 4 centuries later, in a civilization which wanted to know nothing, because knowing something was highly inconvenient: that society had Pluto Derangement Syndrome.

Roman society was busy devaluing wisdom, and thus knowledge. So Roman intellectual-prostitutes invented and glorified the cretin, by pretended that the highest wisdom was to claim one knew nothing, so that the idiotic greedy brutes could rule the world… as they do now… consider the Gamestop scandal, where the friends of the Treasury Secretary are involved, with their “Citadel”. So Yellen and company are worried that Internet critters conspired against the world’s wealthiest conspirators… Because the latter pay her, while the former do not… presumably…

Instead Socrates thought he could learn a lot by dialoguing with ignorant students. Learning from the naive and ignorant works quite a bit along the same principles as a heat pump…

The Internet is a cornucopia of the ignorant belching creative absurdities…

Socrates would have been delighted…

How And Why Civilizational Tech Drive Was Launched By Francia

February 7, 2021

Educated people are supposed to not know at all, whatsoever, how European civilization got launched after the Greco-Roman collapse. They never heard of the Franks, nor should they, because too much LEF, Liberty Equality Fraternity upsets their masters of the Global Deep Plutocracy. So the US Politically Correct have been trained to sneer when hearing of France, and how European civilization arose after Rome collapsed is not supposed to be interesting, or even a mystery. It just happened and the Anglo-Saxons did it: Shakespeare, Newton, Darwin. Then came Washington and Lincoln. However this picture is fake, false, and starting to crack. Even the San Francisco school board is starting to understand what I am talking about. So let me help some more by adding elements of crude reality…

The mood of technological revolution we presently enjoy in this civilization, even and especially in China was France based. More exactly, Francia based. Of course, this also depends what definition of France one uses: the general one valid from 500 CE to 1200 CE, not some fictionalized American primary school.

As I already wrote above, most Americans are thoroughly conditioned to be unaware that the Francia of the Franks created and united Europe long enough for this assertion to be true. To understand this better one has to look into Critical Race Theory and apply it to plutocratic domination.

Clovis takes a bath in the middle of winter… Thus imposing his common sense view of Catholicism on the Roman empire…

Americans, hopefully, are aware of a couple of centuries of US history, or four of them counting from 1619 CE, when racial based slavery was instituted in English America. Frankish control of Europe lasted several times as long, long enough to invent the basis of today’s civilization. The roots of American civilization are in Francia, and that of course infuriates the Global Deep Plutocracy.

Modern France, much of the core of the Francia of the Franks contributed enormously to modern science and technology. However that does not mean this is still going on. Amusingly, both mRNA and the first applications thereof (a vaccine, 30 years ago, which caused allergy problems) were French discoveries (Nobel for mRNA to Lwof, Monod and Jacob). However present France, dominated by MBAs, ENAs and lawyers spent way too little in research and does not have a French-made vaccine. However, that is a state policy, and French research stays alive: a French start-up, financed by Great Britain, got a huge order from Boris Johnson’s government (NOT from the present day French government, which is led by a young M&A banker, and revolving door artist).

Ah, but how, in this perspective, did the pro-technology, pro-knowledge start in Francia? From first beating back the insanity of Christianism with common sense. Told that Christ had been condemned to crucifixion Frankish king and Roman imperator and consul Clovis quipped:”It would not have happened if me and my Franks had been there!”

Second the Franks beat back the ignorance of children by encouraging religious establishments to teach all children secularly.

Third, Queen Bathilde of the Franks outlawed trading as slaves citizens of the empire. The only way out was to innovate cognitively, socially and technologically. A practical consequence was that Europe exploded in hundreds of sovereignties (although the Roman emperor or the French king were supposedly the ultimate authorities).
The dispersion and localization of authority brought some sort of de facto democracy by local responsibilization.

***

To make sure of infuriating some more the ignorant, I answered the following stupid question: Which country generally has better technology between France and Germany? It is a silly question because Francia created Germania: a notion so correct, it infuriated the Nazis. The Franks even created the written German language (under Charlemagne). As if to foster some more this correct observation, Germany proper, as a country, or more exactly empire (“Reich”), was created in 1871 CE, in Versailles…

***

Most engineering was invented in France, or by the French, including the steam engine (Papin, 17C, although he was then working in Germany!), chemistry (Lavoisier, 18C), hot air balloons, first automobiles (18C), plane (Ader, 19 C), the first helicopter, and transistor (1948, although the Nobel was given to Americans who didn’t invent the transistor, there were already patents, and some of the inventors working for the French company which mass-produced transistors in 1949 were Germans).

Hey, even Analytic Geometry (Descartes) or Calculus (Fermat)! And Buridan discovered “Newton’s” Second Law… Three centuries before Isaac was born. Did I mention evolution? The theory was established by research professors Lamarck and his enemy Cuvier… Before the amateur Darwin was even born (Darwin had to go to the university of Edinburgh with Lyell to learn Lamarck’s’ evolution…)

To augment the sneering from the pleasantly enraged ignorant, I will point out to the great Frankish bioengineering creations of the First Millennium: among them, huge horses… more efficient than oxen for ploughing.

Speaking of ploughing, the Franks’ demographic expansion rested on their enormous heavy ploughs made of dense steel which were able to overturn the rich dense soils of the Northern European plains. That was the best steel in the world, and soon hydraulic hammers were necessary to forge it. Cathedrals then arose with their walls of light made of metal and glass. It was known as “Frank” style, until a 16C italian who detested the French called it “Gothic” (because the Franks had destroyed the Goths, Visigoths and Ostrogoths… And wiped them out of history). The Franks also developed new cultivars of beans in the Tenth Century, which came to be known as “full of beans”. Beans are nutritious and full of proteins… The mood of invention arose from the abolition of slavery and the practical existence of local democracy.

Recent Nobel attributions in physics consecrated French breakthroughs which found immediate applications in ubiquitous electronics. Tellingly, Giant Magnetic Resistance was discovered in 1988 independently by the groups of Albert Fert of the University of Paris-Sud, France, and Peter Grünberg of Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany. The practical significance of this experimental discovery was recognized by the Nobel Prize in Physics awarded to Fert and Grünberg in 2007. GMR was used in hard disk drive, until it was replaced by TMR, Tunnel Magnetic Resistance, an effect was originally discovered in 1975 by Michel Jullière (University of Rennes, France) in Fe/GeO/Co-junctions at 4.2 K.

But yes, it is the US Big Tech led by college dropouts, which makes all the money and the glory they redirect at themselves, to augment further their monopoly and propaganda powers…

Now there is pretty much a fusion between French and German, or more generally, European, engineering, through the likes of MBDA (a missile company with state of the art missiles), or Airbus. The French though have a military-industrial complex with for their nuclear forces which is unique in Europe, and the only one in the West, with that of the USA, of course. (Britain has a nuclear deterrent reduced to strategic submarines equipped with US Trident missiles; the French make their own missiles and submarines, acknowledged to be the best in the world, and they have their own air based nuclear arm).

The intellectual tradition of France was born in the Sixth Century, when the Frankish empire told the Pope that Frankish bishops would organize secular education, in spite of Pope Gregory the Great’s lethal threats against his own bishops. In the following centuries, it only grew. By the 8C, all religious establishment had to teach secularly all children, by law. In Paris the Cathedral School grew into the world’s first university (it became physically independent in the 12C when the present cathedral replaced the old one).

The intellectual dominance of Paris was acknowledged by 1000 CE. It was called, at the time, “translatio studii”, the translation of studies from Athens to Paris. In quick order, the Franks/Normans reconquered Sicily and Southern Italy from the Muslims, and England from the Anglo-Saxon-Viking quarrelous mix which was messily ruling there (1066 CE)… In 1204 CE, a rogue French army took Constantinople, in an unfortunate victory of French secularism over Orthodox fanaticism.

Six centuries later, the USA was born from all this…

France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Britain, and the USA are distinctions without fundamental differences. The root is all the same: a large German confederation, that of the Franks of the Salt was created, helped by Rome’s better angels, and relaunched civilization on more common sense, hence more democratic, and more technological foundations.

And here we are. And so is China.

What happened? Well, after 13 centuries of various invasions by foreign powers, something that had a seriously debilitating effect on Chinese power and civilization, the Chinese did some thinking in… Paris (where most of the founders of Communist China ended up, except for Mao). How come China was invaded in the 19C by French and British armies, and not the other way around? How come China was invaded so much and controlled by foreigners for 13 centuries? And Europe was not?

Technological-scientific superiority was the answer. Europe founded by the Franks always had the better steel, better horses, mechanical advantage. In the 15C the Bureau brothers, who were engineers, invented the battlefield gun, which was designed to send the English back to England, as it did… But also protected Europe. The Chinese, under Xi, are overlooking one element, though: democracy, which underlays inventivity…

Internet Internalizing Mean And Greed As The New Virtues Of The Internet Of Beasts

February 6, 2021

It is a brutal culture of greed and self-assertion out there, worse than ever. And it is spreading and amplifying.

Why? The Internet has few moral codes: it is a new technology. Those behaviors which have allowed the greatest individual advancement are those most tightly connected to the basest instincts. But not just this.

Society has been rotting by its head. Once retired, President Truman refused to cash in, he said it would “demean the presidency“. So Truman gave speeches for free in schools, and lived in circumstances so modest, a law was thereafter passed to insure a decent retirement to presidents.

Fast forward to what is going on nowadays: politicians are expected to cash in spectacularly. Ex-president get gigantic amounts of money for showing up at social function. Obama got $600,000 dollars from the Columbia Drug Cartel, after he showed up at the conference the Cartel was organizing, the EXMA conference in Bogotá, Colombia.. And this is not an accident: Obama wrote in books that he used cocaine. Even Politico admits Obama protected the Hezbollah cocaine cartel. Officially, to help the Jihadists controlling Iran.

SN9 explosion, with SN10 standing proud next to it. Elon Musk crashed his second “Starship” in as many months, on February 2, 2021. Differently from the rest of the elite…which does not in general deserve its lofty perch… Musk does, and Elon is also learning. Asked why he did not try to re-start the three engines instead of just two, he replied:”We were too dumb.” In the first crash, pressurization of the methane tank failed. In the second crash, one of the engine failed to restart, as it seemed to experience deconstruction. The remaining engine did not have enough power. What Musk is trying to do, a reusable starship which could be fueled even on Mars (making fuel with the Martian atmosphere) is laudable, because advanced tech, any tech, is the way out: even if not deployable, advanced tech presents with solutions….

US Representative Ilhan Omar paid her husband’s political consultancy firm $2.8million during the 2019-2020 election cycle, campaign finance records show. And it is not just the top politicians who are rotten to the core, and employed by the bandits that they are supposed to subdue. Top economists partake in the kleptocracy. Between a jaunt at the head of the Federal Reserve bank, under Obama and Trump, Janet Yellen, now the head of the US Treasury under Trump’s successor, got $810,000 for a speech at the hedge fund “Citadel”. It is not just the fact they commit the crime of influence peddling, it is that they flaunt it. Thereupon, the entire elite imitates them.

I know a very wealthy lawyer whose firm got one of these ten million dollar checks as a “stimulus”. I wondered why he had not pitched in a part of his multi-million dollar salary to help secretaries and janitors. He laughed, and told me that was “free money”, the government would never seek reimbursement. This is exactly what happened (he is a republican, although close friend to prominent “democrats”).

I know a young hospital administrator who works miles from patients; she got her second jab already. We see in all this that the elite behaves as one. It does not matter what it is, money, vaccines, the elite grabs it all. It is not just an elite of money, it is an elite of power. This has happened sometimes in history, bringing a revolution when all the low lives got together in a vast insurrection against the elites.

As it is the Internet has enabled to internalize and publicize the worst pulsions. The worst pulsions are felt to be virtues, as they enable the worst individuals to succeed the best. Inequality reaches peaks previously unimaginable, with a very small number of persons controlling the feeding of all the minds. It has turned out that Big Brother is Big Tech, and it is thoroughly demented and as base as one can get.

And we have new generations which don’t know any better than this world of inverted values. The starship is upside down and will burst in flames any time. And there is no Elon Musk to save that. Or maybe there is but nobody is listening to her, so she may as well not exist.

The Internet of things may arrive someday. We already have the Internet of beasts.

This was an extended version of a (published!) comment I sent to the New York Times in answer to:

Don’t Hate the SoulCycle Celeb Who Got the Vaccine. Hate the System.
Loopholes make it all too easy to jump to the front of the line.

On January 29, Stacey Griffith, one of SoulCycle’s most popular and glamorous instructors, received the coronavirus vaccine, something that might have passed without incident had she not been 52, extraordinarily fit and aligned with an expansive notion of what it means to be an educator. Taking advantage of the fact that teachers were now eligible for inoculation, Ms. Griffith applied for an appointment…

Perhaps unaware that vaccine access has been a source of great tension — and that the privileged are conniving their way toward safety as the less fortunate remain behind — Ms. Griffith posted news of her triumph on Instagram. The outpouring of anger that followed quickly prompted her to apologize to her nearly 65,000 followers for a “terrible error in judgment.”

However enraging it might be that a celebrity spin teacher could secure a shot weeks or months ahead of her turn — and however dispiriting it is that there are celebrity spin teachers — the problems around the unfair administration of the vaccine extend beyond individual acts of selfishness, entitlement or obliviousness. The distribution system has been too porous to safeguard against terrible judgment and the human inclination to take whatever might be had. In essence, it seems too easy to cheat.

Some effort should also be spent on a campaign shaming anyone who is planning to finagle their way to the front of the line. As it happened, Ms. Griffith got her vaccine at a moment when the United Federation of Teachers estimates that a few thousand of its members had vaccine appointments with the city canceled because of shortages in supply.

Across the country, the pandemic has kept millions of children from going to school in person. Ms. Griffith’s outdoor classes for the weekend, however, are fully booked.

Gamestop: Secretary Of Treasury Stops Her Own Game

February 4, 2021

Short selling is extremely dangerous to those who sell short. On the face of it, it should not be unlawful. However it should be open to… everybody. Other financial strategies used by financiers of the Democratic Party should definitely be unlawful: high frequency trading, especially when leading the markets. Let me explain.

In Jan. 2021, short squeezes occurred on several stocks of companies which tend to be in difficulty, typically for obsolescence, including GameStop Corp. (GME) and AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. (AMC), but also Blackberry, Bed Bath And Beyond, etc… Following efforts by individual traders on Reddit to drive up the price of the stocks. This resulted in large price spikes as short sellers were forced to cover their short positions for substantial losses. These volatile price movements were not driven by fundamentally new factors about the companies. Investors should be particularly cautious when considering trading stocks during short squeezes: highly leveraged institutional investors maybe forced to sell to raise cash from unrelated investment, putting pressure over the entire market (as happened in the last week of January. So broker-dealers reduced the buying of the highly successful mRNA company Moderna to just one share per account. With other stock, buying was outright blocked. This is often presented by the simplistics as a conspiracy of the wealthiest to get even wealthier… But that is not the case: instead to push the price of unworthy stock to the sky is simply a mechanical, let alone financial, impossibility.

Nice “short squeeze”. Gamestop price per share went from basically zero (actually $19) to around $500 dollars and back down again, all in less than three weeks. An institutional short seller investing twenty million dollars short at say $10 would have lost one billion dollars. Citadel, which funded ex-Fed chief and now Treasury Secretary Yellen with around a million dollars last year had to lend three billion dollars to another hedge fund which was collapsing in this short squeeze. A hedge fund lost 53% of its value. For comparison the famous collapse of LTCM in 1998 put 4.7 billion dollars at risk, and cause a worldwide panic and massive Fed intervention. Here the losses were larger, and the Fed no doubt intervened on a much larger scale than it did in 1998 (in 1998, the Fed only DIRECTED a number of banks, seven of them European, to intervene). That’s what I say.

In short selling, the seller opens a position by borrowing shares, usually from a broker-dealer (who is distinct from a market maker; Robinhood is such a broker-dealer; Citadel, which gave 810,000 dollars to the ex-Fed Chief and present Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen is a market maker… and also a hedge fund). The short seller tries to make money by selling, at a lower price, those shares it borrowed from the lender.

To open a short position, a trader must have a margin account, and only high worth entities can do this, considering the dangers involved, and will pay interest on the value of the borrowed shares while the position is open. As usual, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Inc. (FINRA), which enforces the rules and regulations governing registered brokers and broker-dealer firms in the United States, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), and the Federal Reserve have set minimum values for the amount that the margin account must maintain—known as the maintenance margin.

If an investor’s account value falls below the maintenance margin, that’s a margin call: more funds are required, or the position might be sold by the broker.

Selling short can be costly if the seller guesses wrong about the price movement. A trader who has bought stock can only lose 100% of their outlay if the stock moves to zero. However, a trader who has shorted stock can lose much more than 100% of their original investment. Having invested $10,000 in a ten dollar per share stock which shoots up in seconds to $100, one will lose one million dollars. The risk comes because there is no ceiling for a stock’s price, it can rise to infinity.

Short selling is not necessarily toxic: it can uncover crooks, or wildly exaggerated stories, such as Nikola, an electric vehicle company which claimed to have mastered technologies it does not have (after short sellers destroyed it, serious car companies discovered they were right, and ended their collaborations with Nikola). However, telling lies and conspiring to lower a stock price, as many short sellers have done, should be, and is illegal (this is the Wolf of Wall Street story, as related in the eponymous movie).

The real problem is that not everybody, but only a fraction of the top 1% can invest in hedge funds: that’s sheer inequity and inequality.

Reforming the financial market should aim at more equality and equity, and thus, to enact them, more transparency.

In particular high frequency trading, especially in connection with leading the market, should be made unlawful. However entities which became immensely wealthy and powerful so doing are the greatest donors to President Biden.
https://patriceayme.wordpress.com/2021/01/31/hedge-funds-and-financial-bandits-financed-biden-the-list/

I am advocating to open participation in hedge fund and short selling to all citizens… In the name of LEF, LIBERTY EQUALITY FRATERNITY… And that can already be done through some types of (new) ETF… However that does not mean that hedge funds that can collapse because of imprudent positions should be tolerated by the financial authorities: they should not. Nor that does it mean that I will do more short selling myself: my life is already dangerous and complicated enough…

P/S: 1) Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen got all the regulators together today February 4, 2021, to look at what happened. As she got epically financed by the Gamestop market maker Citadel, which lent three billion dollars to another Hedge Fund, Malvin, she recused herself. This amply demonstrates how the elite operates, and how elitist the Biden elite is, and also how much a supposed leftist as Yellen is well fed by the financial industry… How do all the ‘progressives’ feel?

2) So let me repeat slowly: regulators and legislators should focus not on outlawing short selling, but on technical fixes such as quicker reaction when a vicious short squeeze surfaces. HOWEVER, high frequency trading and leading the market (as Renaissance technologies, a major “Democratic” donor, does, should be made unlawful, ASAP)

I have long suggested this. Here it is:

REFORMING WORLD FINANCE.

MAKING WORLD FINANCE SANE, EFFICIENT, AND DEMOCRATIC.
November 28, 2008.
***

The new US government of Barack Obama should push to reform the world financial system. Clearly the old order was not just unsatisfactory, but it outright collapsed. It has also collapsed in a highly unfair way, with some of the richest even profiting from the crash. If the old system is not reformed now, it never will be, because the need to do so will never be as strong

http://patriceayme.com/ltr_039-reform.html

Of course, Oblahblah did nothing much, as usual… Will Biden and Yellen do better? Right, Obama was ignorant, so he is excused that way. He did what he was told by his superiors, so he is inexcusable that other way. But Yellen and Biden are very old hands, they are not ignorant of the financial system… So they may well reform it along the lines I suggest (I am not ignorant either, at least in this domain, nota bene…)

Extreme Passions Create Heavens And Hell

February 2, 2021

Extreme passions enable to reset neural networks, create new ones, that is, new ideas, new emotions. Thus Extreme passions are good for mental creativity. Those who think they can just sit like Buddha and contemplate their navel, to create something valuable, got it all wrong. Hence we need extreme passions for adapting humanity to reality. Hating climate change is not just good but necessary, to do something significant about it… like contradicting all the vampires who live out of fossil fueling the planet (just an example). However, those passions arising are inconvenient to most, in particular to the many of the established elites… precisely because said established elites have all too often much to lose by a changing mental climate… That’s why great thinkers tend to be hated and on the run. Yes, not just Socrates, Aristotle, Hypatia , Boetius, Bruno, Galileo, Descartes, Lavoisier, Lamarck, Darwin or Van Gogh, but even Boltzmann, Einstein, or Louis De Broglie, Godel, let alone Bloch or Cavailles… the latter two, a famous French historian of the Middle Ages and a famous French logician and philosopher, were tortured to death by self-righteous Nazis…

Ev Dioscorea then observed:
“Agreed, but the elite have a lot less to do with suppression of passion and creativity than ones peers do, at least in my experience
.”

This brings to the fore the relationship of the elite of creative thinking with the rest of the elite: it is ambiguous, to put it mildly, as one cannot go without the other. When they go together, civilization does for the best. When they don’t, it collapses. And then there are schizophrenic cases, such as the Renaissance, with characters such as famous kings of Portugal, anxious to go where European ships had never gone before, around the world… while at the same time begging the Pope to overrule frankish law, and make slavery of Africans legal… in a kind of tit for tat…

Caterina Sforza, a forceful, militant personality, descendant of a long succession of condottieri. A Renaissance woman interested in everything interesting, including arts and science, but especially the weapons she needed to defend herself, and her family…. Caterina was omnivorous in her activities, including experiments in alchemy (proto-chemistry), hunting and dancing. Caterina’s resistance to the frantic fascist self-obsessed Cesare Borgia meant she had to face his fury and imprisonment. “Se io potessi scrivere tutto, farei stupire il mondo” (If I could write everything that happened, I would shock the world).

Highest thinking is highest elite, but…
There are elites and elites. The real elite of thought, and the elite of political and financial power are different… But they interact, and the latter two are generally entangled.

Civilization has a problem when elite thinking is at war with the politico-financial-military-religious elite. This caused the collapse of many a civilization (394 CE Rome an example; the Nika riots, another; Nazism another). The Greco-Roman imperial state went down when its elite destroyed the intellectual elite (this started by 380 CE, under the puerile and Catholic fanatic emperors Gratian (~20 years old), Valentinian II (~15 years old) and Theodosius I (became emperor in his early thirties…)

When the greedy elite is in synch with advanced thinking, as under the 5 year rule of Seneca, things go well. However, clearly starting with Domitian, even good Roman governance rejected advanced thinking, and even the advancement of engineering, supposedly to insure full employment… with long term disastrous consequences…

Now Europe showed many cases of plutocrats at the forefront of the intellectual elite… even Popes! The archetype was William, Duke of Normandy… But examples abound. Buridan, who discovered Newton’s second law, three centuries before the birth of Newton, advised no less than 4 French kings… The European Renaissance is crammed with enlightened monarchs, all over.

Some, like Peter the Great of Russia, knew how to crush screaming and begging enemies with the iron bar, while fostering imposed progress on the “Old Believers”, fanatical Christians ready to die in the name of obscurantism… And who made the mistake of organizing a coup against Peter. Peter, the Czar, as a young man, humbly went West, to learn what European Renaissance was all about… And he worked as a ship builder in the Netherlands… to learn how ocean going ships were made, as he was anxious to bring back the most advanced knowledge to Russia, and the attitude to go with it. That enabled him to crush the invading Swedish armies, terminating Sweden at the battle of Poltava, deep in the Ukraine… Smarts are one.

Why is this?

Why this union of evil and creativity, apparent everywhere? Because creativity is intrinsically evil, yet goodness cannot do without it. Indeed, a certain dose of evil is needed to create new ideas and emotions, because creating new mental worlds hurts established minds, thus all minds and in particular, the established elites. Thus a touch of evil is needed to forge ahead intellectually. Now goodness itself is unstable, be it only for ecological reason, so it needs better ideas and feelings, thus that touch of evil…

Free Will Is A Construction

February 1, 2021

We are free to be more liberated if we freely decide what our freedom will be submitted to…

Free Will, the eternal debate. We have it… sort of. In truth, we are free to set up our Free Will, to some extent. I write an essay on the “Fake Left Financed By Plutocratic Conspiracy”, Facebook comes in, and “an administrator” discreetly removes it. My free will to use my isegoria, their Free Will to extinguish it.

We are free to direct some conditions to free ourselves, or not. One could elect to read the New York Times, where even now, under a new president, Biden, 50% of the articles are Trump Derangement Syndrome certified… Or one could read me (say), where a different flavor of the universe is found. In any case what we are exposed to create neural networks and those are what ideas and emotions are made of. The point is that when they are made, they are there, just like the Colosseum, and it would take a lot of effort to put something else in place. It is the hardest work. Minds have huge inertia. Is something with inertia free? It neither comes for free, nor is its trajectory changed for free.

Emotional inertia is always there. Many intellectuals nowadays need their fix of Trump hatred, just as they need Morning Joe (insider joke: a pluto media, NBC has a morning show animated by the Harvard connected daughter of the guy who attacked Afghanistan in 1979, under Carter, and her husband, named Joe; this is very popular among pseudo-intellectuals; they love to hate be it Afghanistan, or “low lives” they despise…). This is emotional inertia: hatred is the gift which keeps on giving.

But where does the spark come from? The pure gesture? The free act? When there is a need for the spark of Free Will? Quantum Field Theory postulates the existence of a universe of virtual particles coming in and out of existence. Experiments show that this seems true; direct fluctuation experiments using gravity wave detectors confirm it. No doubt those interact with our minds, which are Quantum objects.

Much has been pondered by claiming that Classical Physics is deterministic… That is not quite the truth. Classical physics, which is driven by Partial Differential Equations, is deterministic… As long as the initial conditions are 100% known. As this is clearly impossible, it is not deterministic, and never was…

Quantum Physics is driven by a variety of equations. Schrodinger equation (many low energy particles), Dirac equation (electrons), the equations of QCD (quarks, gluons), Maxwell equations (low energy photons), etc… the Schrodinger equation is a HEAT equation with… complex time. This is indicative that there is a hidden thermodynamics of (subquantum?) particles… That thermodynamics of this Subquantum Physics, in turn, would drive minds…

Better: Quantum physics rests on Quantum Entanglement: all objects in displacement are Quantum waves, spread all over. Are our minds static or dynamic? If the latter, as they obviously are, they are spread out all over, and the object of interference from Alpha Centauri… Taking this into account, some recent experiments on nonlocality in Quantum Physics were driven by signals coming from quasars at the opposite ends of the observable universe… Free Will? Only in a Free Universe? Not really, Free Will, in the end is about controlling the “Butterfly Effect”: little expositions, similar to, or identical to what some fundamentalists in Quantum Physics call “weak measurements” are what much of our minds billow from. They have to be freely controlled if we want to augment our freedom of will.
We are free to be more liberated if we freely decide what our freedom will be submitted to…

ianmillerblog

You will see many discussions regarding free will. The question is, do you have it, or are we in some giant computer program. The problem is that classical physics is deterministic, and you will often see claims that Newtonian physics demands that the Universe works like some finely tuned machine, following precise laws of motion. And indeed, we can predict quite accurately when eclipses of the sun will occur, and where we should go to view them. The presence of eclipses in the future is determined now. Now let us extrapolate. If planets follow physical laws, and hence their behaviour can be determined, then so do snooker or pool balls, even if we cannot in practice calculate all that will happen on a given break. Let us take this further. Heat is merely random kinetic energy, but is it truly random? It seems that way, but the laws of motion…
